Living in Mission Beach

Mission Beach is a coastal town which is 14 kilometres in length and made up of four villages: at the northern end there is Bingil Bay, then Mission Beach, followed by Wongaling Beach and then South Mission Beach at the southern end. The closest town to Mission Beach is Tully, a 20 minute drive to the south, or Innisfail, a 30 minute drive to the north.

There are approximately 3000 people living within the Mission Beach area, which is governed by the newly appointed Cassowary Coast Regional Council.

At Mission Beach, you will find a tranquil and very friendly tropical holiday township ideally suited to those who desire a true break from everyday life. Even though the community is relatively small, the area will soon have a new Woolworth's and Shopping Village, apart from another two local supermarkets, a medical centre and dental surgery, chemist, service station and library. There are also a two butchers one at either end of Mission Beach and a fresh seafood outlet store, central to both ends of Mission Beach.

Within the Mission Beach Village, there are several lifestyle and casual clothes stores, a bottle shop and more than a dozen cafes and restaurants offering takeaway food, casual and fine dining. There is also a post offfice, newsagent, art galleries, hair salons and beauticians, accountants, solicitor, architects, music store and bakery.

At Wongaling Beach, there is a motel/hotel adjacent to a small shopping centre along with several cafes and restaurants also offering takeway food, casual and fine dining. Within the shopping centre, there is also a butcher, video shop, newsagent, hair salon, gift shop, dress shop and casual clothes store and a gift shop.

In addition, there are two tourist information outlets, a gym, pool shop, cabinet maker, picture framer, Interior design shop, hardware and plumbing shop, tyre store, tile shop, car hire and engineering works.
